Ramblings for readers, who enjoy a person rambling on about nothing, or something, depending the mood of the person rambling, or the mood of the reader who finds something worth reading about, or possibly rambling on about themselves in a comment to the rambling... I could go on, but I think I have made my point!
Patience emphasizes calmness, self-control, and the willingness or ability to tolerate delay: Our patience will achieve more than our force (Edmund Burke). - from Dictionary.com
The ability to be patient is not an easy thing to acquire. It's a skill that takes many, many years to perfect. Many think they cannot become a patient person, but I think they are wrong.
Patience isn't that tough, really. However, it is tough to have the right amount. Having too much patience causes a person to become a doormat, which everyone walks all over. Not having enough patience and the world sees you as an unstable bomb that they do not want to be near for any length of time, for fear they may trip the "live wire," and cause an explosion. Patience is a simple matter of "ignoring" the little stuff. Some examples are:
There are many other simple things you can do… But it takes practice… You won’t develop patience over night… So don’t give up, keep smiling, and remember… You will be happier, live longer, and more people will want to be around you. I think that’s a good reason to ignore the crap that exists in this world don’t you?
The day I wrote this, it was March 17th, 2005, and we were all (at least most of us), looking forward to drinking some green beer. Some of us may have started a little earlier!
In many parts of the world, this day of prayer, and renewal of one's faith, and a celebration of the life of a single man who changed the face of a nation - St. Patrick. To the rest of us, it's just a reason to PARTY!
There are many stories about St. Patrick, but no one can deny that he has impacted our world. Even if some of the stories of him are more legend than fact, he showed the impact one person can make on the world when following the will of God.
So let's wear our shamrocks, and our green, sing folksongs, kiss the Blarney stone, catch the leprecaun, buy a Shamrock Shake from McDonalds, and raise a pint of green beer to St. Patrick!!
Now that's a great picture... Nice flowers, and nice to think that soon here in the Pittsburgh area, we will be seeing green leaves, grass, and maybe some flowers... This picture is our "weekly company picture". Our company is headquartered in Israel, and the main office here in the US is in Dallas, so they probably don't realize that Punxsutawney Phil said there would be 6 MORE WEEKS OF WINTER!
Last week here at work, we had a gentleman from our HR department come in to our office, and reviewed the results of "employee survey" the company did in 2004. It basically showed that we are "happier" than we were two years ago, but we are still unhappy. They haven't yet figured out that if you give a pay increase, even a small one, not just a one time "bonus" that it can go a long way to improving "morale".
So I guess what I am saying is the results of the survey and the weekly company picture did not improve my morale this week... Instead it made me feel even more like the company is out of touch with me. They keep saying they understand and that they are going to improve things, but I don't think they really are... Why should they? The survey said we are happier than we were two years ago!
I am going to go back and look at the pretty picture again... Maybe if I look at it again, it will lift my spirits...
Later Lou
I decided to keep the same look and feel for starters, but I am completely redoing the content. I have gotten the main page, and the "Interests" pages back up. I have also revived this Blog. Hurray... I lost some of the inline pictures, but nothing that can't be replaced.
